Holiday LED Lights Now Available!
Stoughton Utilities is celebrating the holidays with a Holiday Donation Drive to collect non-perishable food donations for local food pantries. In exchange for your donation, we'll give you a strand of new LED holiday lights!
As we enter the holiday season, Stoughton Utilities is reminding our customers about the benefits and advantages of energy efficient lighting options to help customers trim their holiday energy bill. This year, upgrade your lights and celebrate safely and economically!
We recommend replacing traditional holiday lights with the more energy efficient lighting option of light-emitting diode (LED) lights to decorate your home or business. Compared to standard incandescent holiday lights, LED lights offer several advantages, including using up to 90 percent less energy to produce the same amount of light as incandescent bulbs, significantly lower costs to operate, and a longer life expectancy than standard lights. LEDs also emit much less heat than traditional lights, greatly reducing the risk of fire hazards, and do not have the same components that cause traditional lights to burn out or combust.
By combining your LED holiday lights with indoor and outdoor timers, you never have to step outside or reach around a tree to turn your decorations on or off. Not only is this convenient, but it can also save energy by ensuring you never again forget to turn your lights off at the end of the evening.
To help you get started, we’ll give you a strand of LED holiday lights!
Now through December 3, while supplies last, Stoughton Utilities customers can bring in non-perishable food item donations for the Stoughton Food Pantry and receive a new string of LED holiday lights! All customers that make a donation will receive a set of either white or multi-colored lights.
The food pantry is in special need of the following items: Sugar, flour, canned fruits and vegetables, individual fruit cups for snacks, oatmeal, laundry soap, ketchup, tuna, and spaghetti noodles. No expired, opened, or personal hygiene items please.
This offer is limited to up to one strand of LED lights per customer, during our regular office hours now through December 3, 2021, while supplies last. All food donations must be nonperishable, and before their stamped 'Best By' or 'Use By' date.

Stoughton Utilities also wants customers to be aware of safe operating practices for all types of holiday lighting. To start, home and business owners should always remember to turn off tree and decorative lights, both indoors and outdoors. Control devices like motion sensors, timers and power strips are a great way to ensure decorative lights are off. With numerous types and brands of holiday lights available, it is also important to read safety and use directions carefully to ensure lights and decorations are used appropriately and for the intended and approved purpose.
